Jagdschloss Granitz

One of Rügen's most famous attractions is the Jagdschloss Granitz. This historic hunting lodge was built between 1837 and 1851 and is located in the southeastern part of the island. It was constructed for the Zur Putbus family, who used it — as the name suggests — as a seasonal residence for hunting parties. From the tallest tower, the 38-metre central tower, you're rewarded with stunning panoramic views across the island on a clear day. Ever since it was built, this tower has served as a landmark visible from all directions. The beautiful surroundings of the hunting lodge are also perfect for leisurely walks.jagdschloss_granitz

How to Get to the Hunting Lodge

Since distances on Rügen are relatively short, this impressive hunting lodge is easily reachable by bike or on foot for those who enjoy a good hike. From the town of Binz, a train runs towards the lodge, which can then be reached on foot. Cars can only go as far as the car park, as motor traffic is not permitted in the immediate vicinity of the hunting lodge. The Jagdschlossexpress stops close to the entrance. After your visit, you're welcome to round off the experience with a delicious regional or international meal at the "Alte Brennerei" restaurant nearby.

A Beloved Wedding Venue

The historic Marble Hall of the hunting lodge has long been a popular choice for wedding ceremonies. Many couples have said their vows in this wonderfully romantic setting. The hunting lodge is open to visitors year-round. During the main tourist season from April to October, it is open daily. In the winter months, visits are possible from Tuesday to Sunday. Children up to 18 years of age enter free of charge, while adults pay €6. Special group rates are available for parties of 10 or more.
