Weather on Rugen

The Baltic Sea brings gentle summers and relatively mild winters, with a fresh breeze that keeps warm days pleasant. In short: on Rügen you will surprisingly often find good weather.

Measured near Baabe, the average temperatures are roughly as follows: January -2 to 2 degrees, February -2 to 3, March 0 to 6, April 4 to 12, May 7 to 17, June 11 to 20, July 12 to 21, August 12 to 21, September 10 to 16, October 6 to 14, November 2 to 7 and December -1 to 4 degrees. The summer months of June, July and August are the warmest and busiest on the island.

Sea and sun

In spring the water temperature rises quickly: by late May a refreshing dip is often already possible, and in summer the Baltic Sea warms up pleasantly. From April through September the sun shines at least 5 hours a day, and in May, June and July as much as 8 hours. The early and late season are ideal for those who want to avoid the crowds and still enjoy fine weather.
